On 4 September 2023, Dr. Lorena Calvo Mariscal, Coordinator of the SEA-EU Observatory for Migrations and Human Rights, gave the Seminar Migration in Europe’s Southern Border: Protection and Promotion of Human Rights at Borders and Beyond Borders, at the International Border Studies Center of the University of Gdansk (Poland).

In this seminar, Dr. Calvo addressed current issues on the management of immigration at Europe’s external borders, especially in relation to the externalisation of migration management through cooperation with third countries. She also delved into the application of the human rights of immigrants and refugees at land and maritime borders, in this new context of externalisation of border functions.

This seminar was given in the framework of the SEA-EU Observatory for Migrations and Human Rights collaboration between the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence “Immigration and Human Rights at European External Borders” of the University of Cadiz and the International Border
