The Delegate of the Rector for the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU) Fidel Echevarría, and the Director of Internationalization of Education at SEA-EU, Laura Howard, visit the University of Kiel to initiate the design of new strategies focused on the Alliance renewal.
Between September 15 and 17, a working visit took place between the SEA-EU Delegation of the University of Cádiz and the Presidency team of the University of Kiel, one of the partners of the SEA-EU Alliance. Last school year, Dr. Simone Fulda was elected as the new president of the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel, and with her, the Vice President for International Relations, Nele Matz-Lük. It was therefore essential that when the situation of the pandemic allowed it, the General Coordinator of the Alliance, Fidel Echevarría, made a visit to learn about and exchange ideas on the joint construction of the next steps of the Alliance.
SEA-EU enters a year in which to close the objectives committed in the first call of the European Universities, and at the same time design the proposal for its renewal and long-term sustainability. For this reason, the meetings between the partners are of utmost importance to generate a solid proposal that ensures its long-term success.
During their visit, Fidel Echevarría and Laura Howard attended different presentations of the main lines of work carried out by the University of Kiel in the Alliance. They learned about the progress of the proposal for Learning and Service, the training in Marine Sciences or the Research Centers and the research priorities of the University.
This visit begins a series of meetings of Rectors and SEA-EU Coordination that will result in a firm proposal to consolidate the Alliance and that will foreseeably be delivered to the European Commission in Spring.
