Course Name: German at A1.1 Level

Target Group: This course is open for SEA-EU Students and Staff.

Courses offered by: Kiel University

Start-End Date/Time: 04.10., 06.10., 08.10., 11.10., 13.10., 18.10., 20.10., 22.10., 25.10., 27.10.2021; time: 18:00-20:00

Prerequisites: English at B1 level

Course content:

By the end of the course, participants will be able to or acquire skills to

  • introduce themselves
  • talk on a low level about food, activities and locations
  • know about basic vocabulary
  • know about basic verbs and grammar
  • get an idea of the German Culture

Additional details:

  • Lessons via BigBlueButton (Laptop/PC/Tablet is necessary with a stable Internet connection, also a camera and a microphone)
  • Class size of max. 16 in total
  • total Workload: 20 hours online teaching, 10 hours home work 
  • no extra material is needed

Start-End Date/Time: 11 Oct 2021 – 11 Nov 2021, Mondays 09:00-11:00 & Thursdays 10:00-12:00

Prerequisites: English at B1 level

Course content:

By the end of the course, participants will be able to use and understand

  • Pronouns & verbs
  • Sentence structure
  • Singular & Plural
  • Adjectives
  • Numbers
  • Times (mainly present & past tense)
  • Vocabulary

Additional details:

  • Lessons via Zoom (Laptop/PC/Tablet is necessary with a stable internet connection, also a camera and a microphone), Material will be provided via e-learning platform OpenOlat & Cloud
  • Class size of max. 15 in total
  • total workload: 20 hours online teaching, 10 hours home work 
  • Extra material will be provided by the teacher

Start-End Date/Time: 18 Oct 2021 – 19 Nov 2021, Mondays & Wednesdays 18:00-20:00

Prerequisites: English at B1 level

Course content:

By the end of the course, participants will be able to use and understand

  • to use the basics of German communication
  • to use the most frequent & useful vocabulary
  • to use the base set of German grammar / Pronunciation
  • to get insights into German culture and the city of Kiel (sights & activities)

Additional details:

  • Zoom, OLAT or Moodle (e-learning platforms) will be used for teaching (Laptop/PC/Tablet is necessary with a stable internet connection, a camera and a microphone)
  • one class will be centered around a topic specifically elected by the participants  (e.g. working in Germany, Music trends, politics, nature, economy, …)  
  • total Workload: 20 hours online teaching, 10 hours home work
