The University of Cádiz held this morning the sixteenth coordination meeting of the MIPMAL Joint Master’s Degree, one of the international joint degrees coordinated by this institution within the framework of the SEA-EU European alliance. The meeting took place in the Boardroom of the Hospital Real Building, located on the Cádiz Campus, and was attended by academic and administrative representatives from the partner universities of the program.
The meeting was attended by active representatives from the partner universities, including the University of Malta and the University of Algarve (Portugal). The gathering served to strengthen inter-institutional collaboration and advance the academic planning of the master’s programme, consolidating a true European university community. The day began with an address by Marcela Iglesias, Vice-Rector for Internationalization at the University of Cádiz, who congratulated and thanked all attendees for their decisive contribution to the recent excellent results achieved in the accreditation of the degree. This was followed by welcoming remarks from Paloma Cubillas, Director of the Technical School of Engineering of Algeciras (ETSIA), the hosting institution for the master’s program. Also present as meeting facilitators were María de Andrés, Director General of International Degrees, and Mar Cerbán, Master’s Coordinator.
During the session, participants discussed key topics such as the final co-teaching plan for the 2025/26 academic year, as well as the phases, criteria, and processes for student selection and admission. Financial matters and the various international mobility options available for students and faculty were also addressed.
The agenda then included the approval of the academic calendar for the first year at the University of Cádiz and the development of specific content for the master’s program modules.
As a final highlight, participants had the opportunity to visit the Port of Cádiz, organized and led by Teófila Martínez, President of the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz. During the visit, the host emphasized the important role that training and professional specialization play in the efficient and sustainable management of port logistics, expressing gratitude for the close collaboration with the University of Cádiz in designing this degree.
These meetings reflect the growing prominence of SEA-EU’s international joint degrees, such as the Master’s in Port Management and Logistics (MIPMAL) the Master’s Degree in Sustainability Transition for Organisations and Resilience Management (STORM) and the Bachelor’s in Sustainable Blue Economy (SeaBluE). These programs allow students to pursue part of their studies at several European universities, gain a comprehensive and multidisciplinary perspective, and enhance their employability in international contexts.
