At the start of the 2025 academic year, the local SEA-EU office at UBO was present alongside students and staff at the University of Brest (UBO). True to its commitment to community engagement, SEA-EU participated in key events at the start of the academic year to meet with the university community.
In the lecture halls, first-year students discovered that they were part of a European campus with more than 125,000 students and 15,000 staff members. A space rich in opportunities: mobility, projects, collaborations.
SEA-EU was present at the:
• First-year meetings of the Faculties of Law, Economics, Management, AES and FSSE, on 1 and 3 September.
• New Students’ Day at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, on 3 September.
• InterKampus 2025 Student Day, on 11 September.
Following these initial student events, SEA-EU continued to engage the UBO community through informal gatherings and language activities.
Nice to SEA-EU coffee mornings
Two ‘Nice to SEA-EU Coffee Mornings’ also brought colleagues and partners together in the new premises of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. This was an opportunity to discover the new facilities after the summer move and to welcome the new SEA-EU staff. These meetings helped to raise awareness of SEA-EU and its activities within the UBO community.
Language week
The SEA-EU team and the Language Center extended the European Day of Languages into a full Language Week, held from 22 to 26 September 2025.
Through social media stories and in-depth articles, the university highlighted UBO’s language policy, SEA-EU’s virtual tandem program and online courses, and the wide range of activities available to help students and staff improve their language skills.
The week concluded with two well-attended Babel Cafés, organized by international students. These events took place at the Faculty of Humanities on Thursday, 25 September, and at the Faculty of Sports Science on Friday, 26 September, offering inclusive and intercultural moments open to all.
During the Babel Cafés, participants had the chance to engage in conversations in several foreign languages, including English, Chinese, Spanish, and German.
These informal gatherings provided the perfect opportunity to build connections with other students, practice foreign languages, and explore different cultures—often through personal stories and experiences shared by international students.
