The SEA-EU Task 4.3 Expert Meeting was hosted at the University of Split on 23–24 September 2025, with the main objective of consolidating and coordinating the activities related to Deliverable D4.2 – Report on the SEA-EU Digital Transition.
Key topics of the meeting
Over the course of two intensive days, participants delved into the central themes shaping the Alliance’s digital transformation. A great deal of attention was dedicated to the Digital Competence Framework 2.0, designed to help students and staff strengthen their digital skills and adapt to the challenges of contemporary higher education. Closely linked to this was the development of the AI Charter, which will define a set of shared principles to ensure that artificial intelligence is used ethically, responsibly, and in line with the values of the Alliance.
Equally significant was the Report on the Digital Transition, a cornerstone document intended to capture SEA-EU’s progress in digitalisation and to serve as a roadmap for the next steps. Discussions also focused on the creation of digital internships, a model that would enable students to gain valuable international experience in a flexible, online setting. In addition, the partners explored the potential of European Digital Credentials (EDC), recognising their importance in promoting academic mobility and simplifying the recognition of qualifications across borders.
In addition to the colleagues who gathered in Split, partners from Cádiz, Kiel and UBO also took part in the meeting online, contributing to the joint effort of advancing the Alliance’s digital agenda.
Beyond the sessions – finding balance
After long but productive working sessions, participants had the opportunity to enjoy a fun and insightful city tour of Split, guided by the ever-charming Rozana. Alongside many fascinating historical facts and stories about the city, the group also got a taste of the local spirit and humor. One memorable lesson about Split’s culture was captured in her words:
“Dear guests, I hope you remember – in Split, all doors open with just one password: VOLIM HAJDUK!”
This cultural experience added a lighthearted touch to the meeting and showed how professional achievements can be complemented with shared moments of discovery and connection. It reminded everyone of the importance of maintaining the right balance between serious work and cultural exchange.
