Liberato Talk 2025: Youth as Initiators of Change

The Liberato Talk 2025 conference, held on December 2 at the University Department for Professional Studies in Split, brought together representatives of institutions, local and regional authorities, education professionals, and civil society organizations to highlight the power of young people as initiators of positive social change. Organized by Association Liberato, the conference was held in honor of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3) and focused on strengthening education, equal opportunities, and youth inclusion. The event was opened with remarks from Zrinka Mužinić Bikić (State Secretary at the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth), Stipe Čogelja (Vice-Perfect of Split-Dalmatia County), Tomislav Šuta (Mayor of the City of Split) and Prof. Dr. Nikola Koceić-Bilan (Vice-Rector for Students, Teaching and Business at the University of Split). During the opening session, it was announced that Split-Dalmatia County will begin awarding one-time financial support for students with disabilities starting in 2026, introducing an important new measure that promotes inclusion and equal access to education. The first panel, “Youth as Initiators of Change,” featured youth leaders and representatives who presented initiatives that empower young people to meaningfully contribute to community development and advocate for inclusive practices. First panel was followed by a presentation from the Center for Professional Rehabilitation Split, which highlighted its work in vocational training, employment support, and the empowerment of persons with disabilities. The second panel, “Education as the Foundation of Inclusion,” brought together educators and career development experts to discuss inclusive teaching methods, the value of early support, and the role of educational institutions in ensuring accessible learning environments for all students. Marking its fifth edition, Liberato Talk 2025 reaffirmed that strong cooperation between educational institutions, local authorities and youth representatives is key to ensuring that young people contribute to long-term improvements in inclusion.
