SEA-EU Society Hub inspires students to start new, motivating initiatives

Students find nwe colleagues for collaboration and mutual growth.

Josipa Dadić, a student from the University Department of Health Studies from the University of Split and Klaudia Dragičević, an alumni from the University of Rijeka, achieved impressive cooperation and at the same time embarked on an unusual road of friendship, all thanks to the SEA-EU Alliance.

Both of them applied for an online course Personal Development through Service-Learning, organized as one of the activities of the Society Hub of the SEA-EU Alliance.

This course is offered during the winter semester of 2023/2024 to all students of the SEA-EU Alliance and beyond. Participation in this course equals 5 ECTS credits. Within this course, students are taught how to act in order to achieve a certain social goal. During the course, students develop personally in various ways: they learn to work in a multicultural environment, develop their communication and language skills, use numerous tools of project management, marketing and social networks and learn in cooperation with different stakeholders from their environment. During this process, they are guided by mentors from SEA-EU partner universities. Josipa and Klaudia’s mentor was Frauke Godat from Kiel University.

Josipa and Klaudia combined their love for music and dance with visual arts to compliment the educational dimension of their workshop with an aim to raise participants’ awareness of sustainable development goals.

The participants of the workshop titled “4 eko kids” were children from the association “Moje dijete” (My child) from Solin who didn’t hide their enthusiasm about this initiative. The project was concluded with a 1-day excursion to the source of the Jadro river where children enjoyed beautiful ambience and learned new useful information.

Josipa admits that for her this experience was really useful and interesting which is why she suggests everyone to socially engage and join this initiative. As Josipa said, “we should always search for new ways to improve personal growth while contributing to society at the same time.”
