Lola Perea-Barberá is currently the Director of the Secretariat for the Internationalisation of Education at SEA-EU. She is responsible for Task 2.4 of the SEA-EU Project: the implementation of joint programmes. This challenging task aims for greater integration of the universities participating in the SEA-EU Alliance. The ultimate goal is to establish an inter-university campus of higher education that includes a joint, flexible, and innovative curriculum across three levels of education: bachelor, master, and PhD.
She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher at the Faculty of Maritime Studies and the Naval Engineering School at the University of Cádiz, Spain, where she teaches Maritime English at both graduate and postgraduate levels. She served as Vice-Dean for International Relations and Students at the Naval Engineering School for eight years (2008-2016). Additionally, she coordinated the Bilingual Programme at the School of Engineering from 2017 to 2022. Her research interests include maritime vocabulary, vocabulary learning strategies, language education technology, and Integrating Content and Language in Higher Education (ICLHE).
