As part of the 90th anniversary celebration of the birth of Virgilije Nevjestić, one of Croatia’s most renowned graphic artists, the University of Split and the Virgilije Nevjestić Foundation, in collaboration with the Golden Gate Center for Culture and Lifelong Learning, are organizing the Split premiere of the feature-length docudrama The Silent Wanderer.
The screening will take place on Tuesday, July 15 at 8 PM at Kinoteka Zlatna vrata, Diocletian’s Palace 7, Split. The film will be presented by director and screenwriter Zdenko Jurilj. Country: Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Based on thousands of diary pages, The Silent Wanderer offers a rare and intimate look into the life of Virgilije Nevjestić (1934–2009), who spent most of his artistic life in Paris and was hailed by French critics as one of the greatest graphic artists of the 20th century. Known for his modest origins in rural Herzegovina, Nevjestić left behind a vast artistic legacy, now preserved in Croatia.
About the director:
Zdenko Jurilj, born in 1972 in Široki Brijeg (BiH), is a journalist and filmmaker with numerous international awards to his name. His documentaries have been screened at festivals across Europe and South America. His debut feature film Stigme premiered in 2023.
