The University of Algarve (UAlg) has transformed its Gambelas Campus Library into a vibrant gallery with the opening of “The World at UAlg”, an exhibition that celebrates artistic expression, cultural diversity and internationalisation. Running throughout September and October, the exhibition offers an immersive journey through the rich tapestry of cultures represented at UAlg.
Showcasing artworks, visual narratives and symbolic references from across the five continents, “The World at UAlg” reflects the global reach of the University and its commitment to intercultural dialogue. The exhibition places a particular emphasis on the nine countries of the SEA-EU Alliance — Spain, France, Germany, Poland, Croatia, Malta, Portugal, Italy and Norway — reinforcing the shared mission to foster a truly European university spirit.
This year’s edition also coincides with the arrival of more than 350 new international students (including 22 from SEA-EU partner universities), who are participating in the Welcome Programme. By combining artistic celebration with a warm reception for new students, the exhibition highlights UAlg’s role as a hub for cultural exchange, academic growth and personal development.
Organised by the International Relations and Mobility Office with the support of Erasmus+, “The World at UAlg” acts as a symbolic bridge between countries, disciplines and people. It embodies the idea that art and culture are powerful tools for connecting communities, strengthening international partnerships and enriching the academic experience.
By focusing on creativity and diversity, this exhibition reaffirms the University of Algarve’s commitment to global engagement and to the SEA-EU vision of a more inclusive, interconnected and culturally vibrant higher education landscape.
