Cooperation with Ukraine
Our associated partner, the Odesa I.I. Mechnikov National University, plays a vital role in these initiatives. Together, we work to facilitate academic support, foster cultural exchange, and reinforce shared values, illustrating SEA-EU’s commitment to aiding Ukraine and strengthening bonds within the global academic community.
The SEA-EU Ukrainian Day, held at the University of Gdańsk’s Library Welcome Centre, brought together representatives of the Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University to showcase their institution’s potential to the SEA-EU alliance members. Dr. hab. Arnold Kłonczyński, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education Quality, welcomed both in-person and online participants and emphasized the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations about future collaboration. The Rector of the University of Gdańsk, Prof. dr hab. Piotr Stepnowski, expressed his optimism about the future, hoping that prior efforts would encourage the European Committee to consider integrating Ukrainian academies into the European University alliance fully. Presentations highlighted the achievements and initiatives of each SEA-EU partner university, including the Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University, with discussions about strengthening cooperation and support for Ukraine. Sabine Menu and Svitlana Shytikova also provided insights into European programs and how Ukraine can further internationalize education, youth, and sports.
