The University Library and the Arts Academy of the University of Split cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition and concert marking the 130th anniversary of Jakov Gotovac’s birth.
The celebration will take place on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the University Library in Split, Ruđera Boškovića 31.
On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the birth of Maestro Jakov Gotovac and the 90th anniversary of the premiere of his opera Ero the Joker, the University Library and the Arts Academy in Split are organizing an exhibition and concert to honor the composer’s legacy.
The concert will be held in the Reading Room (Level -1) of the University Library, featuring performances by Antonija Teskera, soloist of the Croatian National Theatre in Split, the Floramye String Quartet, pianist Jelena Buble, Klapa Tamarin, the University Choir Silvije Bombardelli, and the Choir of Split Elementary School No. 3.
Following the concert, the official opening of the exhibition titled “Maestro Jakov Gotovac: A Pilgrim of Heritage” will take place in the Special Collections Department (Level -2). The exhibition features a selection of Jakov Gotovac’s works from the musical collections of the organizing institutions, as well as an array of visually and historically rich materials loaned from several sources, all highlighting the composer’s extensive creative opus.
With this special event, the University of Split joins the city’s wider artistic and cultural initiative, as the City of Split has declared 2025 the Year of Ivo Tijardović and Jakov Gotovac.
