Students work on conservation-restoration projects led by their teachers – employees of the Department. The teachers have professional titles required for performing procedures on paintings on various stretchers, polychrome wooden sculptures, stone, metal, wall paintings, mosaics, hard stone inlays, and objects of archaeological heritage. The abundance of both mobile and immobile cultural heritage of national and global significance is perhaps the main advantage of choosing this programme of study at the University of Split.

Skills to be acquired or developed:
1. Master the basic concepts of conservation theory 2. Recognize the principles of performing restoration procedures throughout history and compare them with modern methods presented in lectures 3. Be aware of the aesthetic aspect of conservation-restoration activities and develop artistic and aesthetic sensibility to a satisfactory degree. 4. Comprehend the original technologies of creation of individual cultural assets. 5. Be able to interpret the results of natural science research.
