At Nord University’s campus in Bodø, The RESPONSE Research Group welcomes doctoral or postdoctoral researchers for secondments in Sport Science, Sociology of Sport or Sport Management.

RESPONSE is an interdisciplinary research group at Nord University focused on the role of sport in society. We bring together researchers from sociology, pedagogy, history, human resource management, sports science, and organization studies. Our work addresses themes such as social inequality and exclusion, gender and diversity in sport, youth sport, esports, management and leadership, sustainability, and technological innovation in sport. We combine empirical research with theoretical inquiry and are active contributors to academic, professional, and public debates. The secondment offers early career researchers the opportunity to engage in ongoing projects, contribute to publications, and collaborate across disciplines on critical issues related to sport, inclusion, and social change.

RESPONSE is based at the Bodø campus of Nord University, with members from the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Education and Arts. We currently have 15 regular members and frequently host international researchers for stays ranging from one week to six months. Our research focuses on sport and society, with priorities including: (1) innovation and technology in sport, (2) virtualization and esports, (3) sport, sustainability, and the environment, (4) social inequalities and gender, (5) youth sport, and (6) management and governance. We meet every three weeks, host a monthly academic book club, run our own podcast, and organize a seminar series featuring guest lectures. RESPONSE is actively engaged in interdisciplinary projects and contributes to academic and public discourse both nationally and internationally. In November 2025 we are planning to host an international PhD course titled Rethinking Sport: Addressing Emerging Issues and Future Opportunities.

The secondment can take place any time from September 2025 until the end of SEA EU project.
