If you are doing research with biological material (other than human DNA) that comes from outside the country where you are doing the research, you need to understand the basics of the Nagoya Protocol and Access and Benefit-Sharing, and what your obligations are as a researcher in the EU. During this online workshop, we will go step by step through what researchers need to know and do in order to comply with their obligations under the Nagoya Protocol and the EU ABS Regulation. You will learn about the user checks that have already started in Germany, some of the direct consequences of non-compliance (e.g. fines, embargo of material and publications, etc.), what requirements journals and funding agencies might start asking for, and what tools and tips are already available for you to use and inform yourself.
