Secondments
SEA-EU Secondments Programme: Enhancing Career Perspectives for Early Career Researchers
The SEA-EU Secondments Programme is designed to promote scientific exchange between the SEA-EU partners. Being of mutual benefit to the secondee and the host, secondments help broaden expertise, expand networks and establish new collaborations. In particular, secondments offer early career researchers (ECRs) a unique opportunity to enhance their skills and explore diverse career paths through short-term stays at SEA-EU partner institutions.
Key Features
- Duration: 10-60 days
- Secondees: Doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, who are employees of SEA-EU universities
- Hosts: Senior researchers at SEA-EU universities: Independent research group leaders and professors
- Funding: To be provided by the secondee’s home university
Benefits of Secondments
For you as an early career researcher, secondments can be a unique opportunity to broaden your horizon. By joining a partner university for a short period of ten days or longer for up to two months you will look at your own research with different eyes. Exchange ideas with international researchers from your own discipline or benefit from another discipline’s perspective on your work.
In addition, you might have the chance to learn new research methods or lab techniques when having access to the hosting research group’s expertise and equipment. Apply for a SEA-EU secondment to set the foundation for future collaborations which might result in joint conference visits or joint publications.
If you are a senior researcher, secondments represent an excellent opportunity to invite international experts from within your field of research to your own research group in order to further develop your own research agenda. They might also have specialist knowledge about a specific research method or a new laboratory technique.
Or, when inviting someone from another discipline, you will benefit from a new perspective and fresh ideas. Lay the foundation for future collaboration and potential joint publications. Benefit from SEA-EU and expand your international network.
Secondment Agreement
All secondments are governed by the SEA-EU Secondment Agreement, ensuring clear alignment of expectations and responsibilities between the sending and hosting organizations. The agreement also outlines logistics, access to resources, and additional support provided during the secondment.
