Getting to Kiel

The closest airport is Hamburg (HAM).
Please note that airport transfer is not organised by the host.
To get to Kiel from Hamburg airport, the following options are available:

Kielius – direct bus from Hamburg airport to Kiel central bus station (ZOB). It runs every hour. The costs are as follows: Single ticket 24.50 € / return ticket 42.50 €. The best way to book is online here. Tickets can also be purchased from the driver, but the costs are higher and ONLY cash payment is possible. At Hamburg Airport, you find the bus directly outside the airport building, on arrival level, between terminals 1 and 2. Travel time to Kiel ZOB is about 1.5 hours.

Deutsche Bahn (DB) – train from Hamburg airport via Hamburg main station to Kiel main station. First take the S-Bahn (line S1) to Hamburg main station (Hauptbahnhof/Hbf), then change to a regional train (nr. RE7 or RE70) to Kiel main station (Hauptbahnhof/Hbf). Depending on the connection, it takes between 1.5 and 2 hours. The price for a single ticket (Einzelkarte 2. Kl.) is 27.40 €. You can buy the tickets on the vending machine on site or on the DB website.

Taxi – taxis are available just outside the Hamburg airport terminal building on arrival level. Picking up a taxi from there to travel to Kiel can cost up to ca. 200 € (taxi meter).
