On 28, 29, and 31 July 2025, the University of Algarve (UAlg) hosted a series of internal coordination meetings of the European University of the Seas – SEA-EU, bringing together the UAlg representatives nominated for each of the six Work Package (WP). These sessions were designed to assess the work carried out over the past semester and jointly define priorities and action plans for the upcoming academic year.
Chaired by Patrícia Pinto, SEA-EU Pro-Rector at UAlg, the meetings convened around 80 WP nominees from across the institution. Each gathering served as a moment for structured reflection on recent progress, identification of ongoing challenges, and coordinated planning to ensure alignment with SEA-EU’s long-term strategic objectives. These internal coordination moments are also a key element in the local implementation of SEA-EU, ensuring consistency between institutional goals and the shared vision of the Alliance.
In addition to reviewing recent milestones, participants discussed key priorities for the next months, including the launch of the Joint Programmes, the development of the SEA-EU Green and AI Charters, the expansion of research collaboration frameworks, and the strengthening of communication strategies to reinforce the SEA-EU identity both internally and externally. The outcomes of these sessions will also contribute to the ongoing collective planning efforts across the Alliance, with SEA-EU 3.0 on the horizon.
These meetings not only marked the closure of the academic year at UAlg but also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to SEA-EU. With clear goals ahead, UAlg’s nominees for the different tasks of SEA-EU are now preparing for a dynamic and impactful return in September.
