SEA-EU Rectors’ Meeting and 6th Anniversary Celebration in Split!

The SEA-EU Rectors’ Meeting was held at the University of Split on 19–20 January 2026, bringing together rectors and their delegations of partner universities to discuss the strategic goals and future direction of the SEA-EU Alliance. The programme began on Monday, 19 January, with the arrival of participants and a welcome dinner held as part of the Science Comes to Town event at Lvxor. During the dinner, the 6th anniversary of the SEA-EU Alliance was also celebrated. As all rectors were already gathered in one place, this occasion provided an excellent opportunity to mark the anniversary together. The Rector of the University of Split, Prof. Dragan Ljutić, addressed the guests, thanking all partners for their outstanding cooperation and emphasizing that the SEA-EU Alliance represents one big family. The evening concluded with the cutting of the anniversary cake and a celebratory toast. The meeting was attended by Prof. Antonio Garofalo, Rector of the University of Naples Parthenope; Prof. Hanne Solheim Hansen, Rector of Nord University (Bodø); Vice President Prof. Ralph Schneider of Kiel University; Prof. Pascal Olivard, Rector of the University of Brest; Prof. Alfred J. Vella, Rector of the University of Malta; Prof. Casimiro Mantell, Rector of the University of Cádiz; and Prof. Alexandra Teodosio, Rector of the University of Algarve (Faro). Prof. Piotr Stepnowski, Rector of the University of Gdańsk, participated in the meeting online. On Tuesday, 20 January, the Rectors’ Meeting continued with discussions focused on the strategic priorities, development, and long-term vision of the SEA-EU Alliance. The meeting concluded with a joint lunch at the Adriatic Restaurant, marking the end of a short but highly significant meeting for the entire Alliance, and reaffirming the partners’ shared commitment to continued cooperation and common goals. It was a great pleasure to host you in Split!
