Target Audience
This module is open to Master students in interdisciplinary marine and maritime studies from SEA-EU member universities.

Module Objectives:
- Knowledge and understanding: At the end of the course, students must prove to understand and know the main topics related to: i) the evolution of the business logistics function, ii) the network and relational design of the supply chain, iii) the procurement and suppliers management, iv) the global supply chain management and v) the role of ICT in supply chain management. The course also introduces more current issues related to the sustainable management of supply chains.
- Applying knowledge and understanding: Thanks to the course, students must be able to use an effective and responsive supply chain, optimize the relational, commercial, logistical and economic processes of a supply chain, facilitate the adoption of the circular economy.
- Making judgements: At the end of the course, the student must be able to independently evaluate the supply chain management processes and to indicate the main actions needed and the best approaches to adopt. The laboratories, the analysis of case studies and the realization of project-based works let the student to learn how to provide their own assessments on supply chain management.
- Communication skills: Thanks to the course, the student will be able to present a project using the technical language correctly, to be able to describe in written form concisely, and to present orally with properties of language what has been learned during the lessons and workshops. Thanks to the analysis of case studies and the presentation of project-based works, students learn how to present the results of their papers and explain the methodologies used.
- Learning skills: The student will be able to continuously update his knowledge about the various topics related to the supply chain management issues, through the consultation of texts and publications and / or the attendance of specialized courses, seminars and master’s in supply chain management. The student will be able to apply the acquired knowledge to contexts different from those presented during the course.
Content Description:
Part I (15h frontal lectures, 2h case-studies analysis, 2h labs)
Basics of Supply Chain Management, drivers and metrics: definitions, building blocks and origins of the supply chain management, supply chain performance, drivers of supply chain performance.
Part II (15h frontal lectures, 3h labs, 1h case studies analysis)
Designing the supply chain network and the transportation network: designing distribution networks and applications to online sales, network design in the supply chain, designing global supply chain network, designing and planning of the transportation network, characteristics, performance and infrastructure of transportation.
Part III (15h frontal lectures, 4h labs, 1h flipped classroom)
Planning and coordinating demand and supply: demand forecasting, operations planning, the coordination in the supply chain, cycle inventory, managing uncertainty, determining the optimal level of product availability.
Part IV (10h frontal lectures, 2h seminar, 2h case studies analysis)
Managing cross-functional drivers in a Supply Chain: sourcing decisions in a SC, pricing and revenue management, ICT in SC, Sustainable

Schedule:
Classes will be held twice a week from 4th March to 6th June 2024 as follows:
Mondays, 14:00 – 17:00
Wednesdays, 14:00 – 17:00
Exception: Classes will not take place on 30th March – 1st April, 25th April and 1st May.

- The module offers are meant for SEA-EU Alliance Universities’ master students in marine and maritime sciences: Registration is only considered if made with a valid institutional email address.

- A certificate of participation including ECTS will be issued, upon successful examination of the module.
