“The World at UAlg”: Celebrating Diversity, Internationalisation and the Arrival of New International Students

On 1 September, the University of Algarve (UAlg) inaugurated the exhibition “The World at UAlg”, now open at the Gambelas Campus Library, where it will remain throughout September and October. The date also marked the launch of the Welcome Programme for more than 350 international students (including 22 from SEA-EU partner universities), who had the opportunity to explore the campuses and experience the vibrant intercultural atmosphere of UAlg.

Over the following days, students are taking part in a wide range of activities designed not only to help them become familiar with the university and the Algarve region, but also to ensure they make the most of this unique opportunity — enriching their academic journey while also fostering personal growth and cultural exchange.

Organised by the International Relations and Mobility Office, with the support of the Erasmus+ programme, the exhibition offers a warm welcome to international students while celebrating the diversity that enriches the academic community.

“The World at UAlg” invites visitors on a symbolic journey across the five continents, highlighting the cultural wealth of each country connected to the University.

Special attention is given to the countries of the SEA-EU Alliance – Spain, France, Germany, Poland, Croatia, Malta, Portugal, Italy, and Norway – underlining the exhibition’s role in reinforcing the shared mission of the University and the Alliance to foster internationalisation, intercultural dialogue, and a truly European university spirit.

By celebrating diversity and cultural exchange, “The World at UAlg” reaffirms the University of Algarve’s commitment to building bridges across borders, strengthening its global outlook, and enriching the SEA-EU community.
