Academic Staff Week in Psychology at the University of Split

From 17th to 19th September 2025, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split, hosted the SEA-EU Academic Staff Week in Psychology. The three-day program gathered academics, researchers, and professionals to exchange best practices, strengthen cross-institutional cooperation, and address the role of psychology in supporting students and academic communities.

The opening day set a strong tone for the week. Prof. Ina Reić Ercegovac, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of fostering resilience and wellbeing in higher education. This was followed by Ivana Jadrić, PhD, and Ivan Buljan, PhD, who introduced the program and presented the work of the Department of Psychology at the University of Split. The conversation on student support and wellbeing continued with contributions from Antonia Peroš, Bruno Barać, PhD, and Tea Gutović, PhD, who underlined how universities can enhance both academic and personal success among students. Later in the program, Ana Marušić, MD, PhD, reflected on the importance of scientific publishing and international collaboration.

The first day concluded with an informal sightseeing of Split’s historic city center, offering participants the chance to connect in a relaxed atmosphere while exploring the cultural landmarks of the city.

On Thursday, the focus shifted to international cooperation. Ana Ćosić, Head of the International Relations Office, and Tonka Petričević, Head of the Projects and Innovation Office at the University of Split, presented opportunities for scientific and professional networking, highlighting the importance of building strong European partnerships. Alongside them, several other presenters from the University of Split also shared their expertise, contributing to lively discussions and reinforcing the value of interdisciplinary collaboration.

The week concluded with a joint participation at the international scientific and professional conference “Psychology in Transition: Adapting to a Rapidly Changing World”, organized by the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split. Held on 19th September 2025 at the AC Marriott Hotel in Split, the conference provided a platform to examine how psychological theory, research, and practice can respond to the challenges of a rapidly changing global society. Importantly, the guests of the Staff Week from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Norway, and Poland also took part in the conference, where they held presentations and actively contributed to the international exchange of knowledge and expertise.

In the end, the SEA-EU Academic Staff Week in Psychology was not only about lectures and discussions – it was also about meeting colleagues, exchanging ideas, and creating new friendships. The atmosphere was warm, the collaboration inspiring, and most importantly, we all left better connected for future projects and cooperation.
