SEA-EU Runs for a Cause: La Solidaire de Brest 2026

The charity run La Solidaire de Brest 2026 was organized by the University of Split in collaboration with its partner, the University of Brest, as part of the European SEA-EU alliance. This event, which attracts an increasing number of participants each year, combines sport, community spirit, and a humanitarian purpose.

The main goal of the run is to raise funds for charitable organizations supporting people in need. This year, the collected funds were intended for the associations Des Étoiles dans la Mer and APF France handicap. A distinctive feature of the event is its concept—every kilometer completed, whether by running, walking, cycling, or swimming, equals one euro in donations.

Participants tracked their kilometers using the Strava app, allowing people to join regardless of their location. This digital component expanded the reach of the event and encouraged broader community involvement.

The central event in Split took place at Žnjan Beach, in front of Hotel Amfora, where students, professors, university staff, and citizens gathered. The run started at noon, and the first 100 participants received specially designed SEA-EU T-shirts, further enhancing motivation and a sense of unity.

La Solidaire de Brest is not just a sporting event but also an example of how the academic community can contribute to society. By promoting a healthy lifestyle alongside humanitarian action, the run highlights solidarity, international cooperation, and the importance of helping those in need.
