Empowering Global Talent: UAlg’s BIP on Soft Skills and Human Capital

From 23 to 27 June 2025, the University of Algarve (UAlg) hosted the physical component of the SEA-EU Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Soft Skills in a Modern Workplace – The Role of Human Capital Management in Ensuring High Empowerment”, at the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism (ESGHT), in Penha Campus, Faro.

Organised by UAlg, in collaboration with the University of Gdańsk (Poland) and the University of Split (Croatia), the BIP formed part of the SEA-EU Alliance’s broader mission to promote internationalised and interdisciplinary education. The programme combined theoretical sessions with practical, experience-based activities, focusing on topics such as intercultural communication, leadership, mental resilience, and workplace well-being.

The virtual component took place from 16 to 20 June and brought together 23 students and 4 lecturers from three SEA-EU partner universities – CAU, UNIST and UG. Through a series of online sessions, participants explored key concepts in soft skills, generational diversity, and cross-cultural collaboration.

During the physical week in Faro, students took part in interactive discussions on generational perspectives in the labour market, job satisfaction and empowerment, non-verbal communication, and well-being in the workplace.

The academic sessions were complemented by cultural and social activities, including a guided tour of Faro’s historical centre, a visit to the Faro Living Science Centre and outdoor workshops such as water sports at Faro Beach Nautical Centre.

The programme concluded with simulation exercises on multicultural communication and a final session for the presentation of certificates.

Awarding 6 ECTS credits, the BIP contributed to the development of transversal skills and reflected SEA-EU’s commitment to innovative, inclusive, and globally connected higher education.
