Future Leadership Forum 2024 - Second Edition

The Second Edition of the Future Leadership Forum (FLF) took place in Naples on the 9th of October 2024.
This Second Edition of the Future Leadership Forum represents a continuation of the first one, which was held on the 19th of October 2023. This Second Edition provided a renewed opportunity to promote shared values and Open Science, fostering international cooperation for global development in accordance with the SDGs and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

To foster and strengthen the commitment towards the creation of a better and sustainable future, the Second edition of the Forum was structured as a platform of discussion on the Agenda 2030.

One Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of the Agenda 2030 has been assigned to each SEA-EU Partner University.
Each of the nine SEA-EU Partners provided its cotribution expressing its perspectives on a specific SDG during the Forum. These valuable contributions are available to the general public on this webpage, with the aim to impact society at large.

The other major goal of this Forum is to enhance cooperation among universities and explore the possibility of expanding the SEA-EU Alliance beyond the European area. Because of this, external partners of SEA-EU from North Carolina, Angola, Senegal, Mozambico, Colombia, Morocco, which also siged the Global Gateway Declaration, participated in the event and joined the conversation about this crucial topic.

The fruitful debate mainly focused on the following issues:
  • The critical role of SEA-EU and its partners in delivering SDGs: initiatives and approaches to foster alignment with the 2030 targets and enhance cooperation among SEA-EU partners.
  • Suggestions for collaborative frameworks or mechanisms able to share resources, expertise, and best practices among SEA-EU partners and ensure a more cohesive and integrated approach to achieving our common goals.
  • Suggestions for strategies that could be employed to increase the involvement of students in SEA-EU cooperative projects.
  • The Future of the “Future Leadership Forum”: proposal of new initiatives and organisational form.

Future Leadership Forum 2023 - First Edition

On the 19th of October 2023 delegates from all of the nine partner universities of SEA-EU Alliance came together to attend the First Edition of the Future Leadership Forum hosted in Naples by Parthenope University.

The event took place in the beautiful frame of Villa Doria D’Angri, which provided a perfect location to fruitfully discuss and share knowledge.
On this occasion, panels and discussions focused on the following pivotal issues:

  • What are the major challenges our society will be facing?
  • What skills are the most important for a better future to be built?
  • What role the European University of the Seas plays to achieve a Healthy ocean and Sustainable World?

The draft of the Global Gateway Declaration was also dicussed, eventually signed during the SEA-EU Congress held at the University of Algarve, in Faro (Portugal) on January 12-13, 2024.

Given these points, the event was clearly not only a formal milestone for the SEA-EU Alliance, but it represented a valuable chance to harness the power of sharing experiences, practices, resources and expertise paving the way for a better and sustainable future powered by European Education and Research.
