The Staff Week “Driving Sustainability – The SDGs in Teaching and Research Activities in Law Departments” has concluded, bringing together academics from three partner universities of the SEA-EU Alliance.
Coordinated by Professors Francesca Salerno, Eufrasia Sena, Assunta Di Vaio and Lucia Abbamonte, the initiative was held at Parthenope University of Naples and offered a three-day program dedicated to integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda into the teaching and research activities of Departments of Law.
The first two days, hosted by the Department of Law, opened with a welcome address from the Director, Prof. Rosaria Giampetraglia, and continued with presentations by the partner universities on their degree programs and research strands. These were followed by a discussion on how to integrate the SDGs into courses, on teaching approaches, and on relevant research outcomes.
Subsequent sessions focused on identifying shared teaching areas to promote joint courses, academic staff mobility, postgraduate training collaborations, and new opportunities for collaborative research, seminars, and cooperation within doctoral programs.
Contributions from Professors Carla Pansini, Paola Mazzina, Sabrina Pisano, Sara Pugliese, Giulia Vicentini and Matteo Pozzoli highlighted the inherently multidisciplinary nature of teaching and research in Departments of Law: law serves as a bridge between economics, business administration and organisation, and socio-political and linguistic perspectives, enabling integrated interpretations of sustainability challenges.
The dialogue was further enriched by the contribution of Dr. Carlo Corcione (City, St George’s, University of London), who collaborates with Parthenope’s Department of Law, offering a link between professional practice and sustainability themes.
The final day, hosted at the monumental venue of Villa Doria d’Angri, opened with institutional greetings from the Pro-Rector for Internationalisation, Vito Pascazio, and concluded with a roundtable dedicated to defining future synergies and joint projects.
Through this Staff Week, Parthenope University of Naples together with the partner universities of the SEA-EU Alliance reaffirm their commitment to promoting legal education attentive to the values of sustainability, digitalization, inclusion, and cooperation in Europe.
