Between 23 and 27 March 2026, the University of Algarve hosted the Staff Week “From the Vision to Practice: Co-Creating Green and Digital Teaching Innovations for Sustainability”, bringing together 13 participants from six partner universities of the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU) — the University of Gdańsk, Nord University, the University of Brest, the University of Naples Parthenope, the University of Malta and Kiel University.
The opening session, held at the Penha Campus on 23 March, featured welcome remarks from the Vice-Rector for Partnerships and European University, Patrícia Pinto, and the Coordinator of the International Relations and Mobility Office, Marleni Azevedo, who highlighted the importance of European cooperation and the sharing of best practices in higher education, particularly in the context of the digital and sustainable transitions. The programme coordinators, Professors Jaime Aníbal and Pedro Cardoso, also presented a brief overview of a week marked by experimentation, collaboration and pedagogical innovation.
Throughout the week, academic and administrative staff took part in a dynamic programme combining moments of exchange, reflection and collaborative work, including sessions on best practice sharing, thematic workshops and co-creation activities focused on integrating green and digital competences into teaching and learning processes.
The programme also included networking moments and cultural activities, such as a visit to Faro Island and the historic city centre, providing participants with a well-rounded experience that combined learning, collaboration and engagement with the local territory.
This Staff Week is part of the University of Algarve’s activities within the SEA-EU Alliance, reinforcing its institutional commitment to pedagogical innovation, internationalisation, and the development of a more sustainable, collaborative and interconnected European university.
