On Monday, September 29, the first cohort of the Joint Master’s Degree in Sustainability Transition for Organisations and Resilience Management (STORM) officially began their journey at the University of Brest.
The programme, entirely taught in English, is a collaboration between six SEA-EU universities: Brest (France), Malta, Cádiz (Spain), Split (Croatia), Gdańsk (Poland), and Nord University (Norway), which was represented at the inauguration. Members of the SEA-EU offices from the partner universities also attended remotely to witness the opening and support the first cohort.
Designed to train the next generation of sustainable managers, STORM equips students with skills in environmental sustainability, organisational resilience, innovation, and governance. The first cohort consists of 10 students from 8 different countries including Iran, Vietnam, Indonesia, Ghana, Italy, Germany, and Poland.
The inauguration began at 9:00 AM with a welcome coffee, followed by speeches from Pascal Olivard, President of the University of Brest, Marcela Iglesias, SEA-EU General Coordinator, and Adélie Pomade, UBO SEA-EU Vice-President.
Marie-Noëlle Chalaye, STORM Programme Director, presented an overview of the curriculum, emphasizing the programme’s hands-on approach, intercultural learning, and engagement with nature.
After a roundtable and an icebreaking session, the students participated in a seashore field trip, reflecting the programme’s focus on reconnecting with the environment.
The two-year programme includes study periods at a minimum of two SEA-EU partner universities, providing international experience and professional exposure.
The first cohort captured the moment with selfies and group photos, marking the start of what promises to be an inspiring academic journey.
