The Second Edition of the Future Leadership Forum hosted by Parthenope University of Naples was held at Villa Doria d’Angri on the 9th of October 2024.
The representatives of the SEA-EU universities (University of Algarve – Portugal, Bodø – Norway, Brest – France, Cadiz – Spain, Gdansk – Poland, Kiel – Germany, Malta, Split – Croatia) met to discuss the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda and the active role that universities can and must play to contribute to the achievement of these goals over the next few years. A multi-voiced reflection to analyse and implement the possibilities of cooperation between the members of the Alliance and to ensure the involvement of students in an international path that pursues the path of sustainability.
During the Forum, the delegation of each university provided its contribution on the topic, presenting one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. A debate was also opened with the signatories of the Global Gateway Declaration: partners from North Carolina, Angola, Senegal, Mozambique, Colombia, Morocco participated.
A synergy “that will allow our students to develop their education in different universities of the Alliance” underlined Casimiro Mantell, Rector of the University of Cadiz, coordinator of the SEA-EU Alliance, accompanied by SEA-EU general coordinator Marcela Iglesias: “we are working to create a joint degree, for example for the Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate, which will allow a student who begins his/her course at a university to be able to continue his/her studies, if he/she wishes, in other countries of the Alliance, getting to know all of Europe”.
“The exchange of knowledge and skills within the Alliance – remarked the Rector of Parthenope University Antonio Garofalo, with Prof. Gabriele Sampagnaro, the Rector’s delegate for the SEA-EU Alliance and the Vice-Rector for Internationalisation Vito Pascazio – is a precious opportunity for our students who, today more and more, must turn their gaze to an international context, in an increasingly competitive world. If this then happens between universities that, like ours, are inextricably linked to the sea and all the opportunities it offers, the project becomes even more interesting and engaging”.
