The Observatory Of Migration and Human Rights launched a Seminar at the University of Algarve

The University of Algarve hosted an insightful SEA-EU seminar titled “Contemporary Migrations: Facts and Myths” bringing together students, academics, and community members to reflect on one of the most pressing issues of our time.

Organized by the SEA-EU Alliance at the University of Algarve, the session featured two distinguished speakers from the University of Gdansk, Professor Elżbieta Czapka and Professor Jakub Potulski, who guided participants through the complexities of migration in today’s global context. The event was attended by a total of 33 participants, including 16 on-site and 17 online attendees

This seminar is part of the activities developed within the Observatory of Migration and Human Rights, and its goal is to promote research, reflection, and debate on migratory movements and their social, political, and cultural implications. Held from 16:00 to 17:30 (Lisbon time), the event invited participants to go beyond the headlines and statistics, challenging stereotypes and shedding light on the human dimensions of migration.Through dialogue and expert insights, attendees explored the myths that often share public perception and gained a deeper understanding of the realities behind migration.

The SEA-EU Alliance continues to foster cooperation and discussion on global challenges such as mobility, sustainability and inclusion.
