On October 27, the Observatory of Migration and Human Rights launched its online seminars, starting in collaboration with the University of Cádiz. The opening session featured insightful contributions from Ángeles Jiménez, Lorena Calvo, and Marian Bellido, accompanied by other distinguished experts in Human Rights and Migration from the universities of the SEA-EU Alliance.
Addressing issues related to Human Rights and Migration is of vital importance in today’s global context. These topics lie at the heart of the Alliance’s commitment to fostering social awareness, inclusion, and academic cooperation, encouraging universities to contribute actively to building fairer and more humane societies.
During the session, special attention was given to the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and its enduring role in shaping global migration policies. The speakers reflected on how the UN has promoted international cooperation, the protection of refugees, and the development of framework that safeguard human rights while addressing the complex causes of migration. This milestone served as a reminder of the importance of multilateral efforts in responding to contemporary migration challenges.
The seminar marked the first in a series of monthly online events that will continue to promote dialogue and collaboration among the universities of the Alliance.
