The 6th anniversary of the SEA-EU Alliance was celebrated in Split in the framework of the Science Comes to Town initiative and alongside the SEA-EU Rectors’ Meeting, providing a meaningful context for marking this important milestone. The programme began on Monday, 19 January, with the arrival of participants and a welcome dinner held at Lvxor, which brought together the rectors and delegations of SEA-EU partner universities in a warm and festive atmosphere.
The celebration was attended by Prof. Antonio Garofalo, Rector of the University of Naples Parthenope; Prof. Hanne Solheim Hansen, Rector of Nord University (Bodø); Vice President Prof. Ralph Schneider of Kiel University; Prof. Pascal Olivard, Rector of the University of Brest; Prof. Alfred J. Vella, Rector of the University of Malta; Prof. Casimiro Mantell, Rector of the University of Cádiz; and Prof. Alexandra Teodosio, Rector of the University of Algarve (Faro). Prof. Piotr Stepnowski, Rector of the University of Gdańsk, joined the occasion online.
As all rectors were gathered in one place, the evening offered an excellent opportunity to celebrate six years of close cooperation within the Alliance. The Rector of the University of Split, Prof. Dragan Ljutić, welcomed the guests and thanked all partners for their outstanding collaboration, emphasising that the SEA-EU Alliance represents one big family united by shared values and common goals.
The evening concluded with the cutting of the anniversary cake and a celebratory toast, symbolically marking both the Alliance’s achievements to date and its continued commitment to strengthening cooperation in education, research and societal engagement across Europe.
