LA SOLIDAIRE DE BREST AT UALG

Penha Campus of the University of Algarve (UAlg) hosted, on 24th March, between 10:00 and 12:00, the third edition of the ‘UAlg/SEA-EU Inclusive Race and Walk’, included in La Solidaire de Brest 2025 Initiative.
The event had a total of 256 participants, including members of the academic community, partner institutions, local associations and students from a high school in Faro. Notably, some participants represented a diverse range of pathologies including motor difficulties, highlighting the event’s inclusive nature.
According to data collected from Strava, participants collectively contributed with 230 kilometers towards supporting institutions affiliated with the University of Brest, showcasing their dedication to charitable causes and community support.
Additionally, the event also focused on community welfare through its food collection initiative. Managed by the UALG V+ Volunteering Office, more than 40 kilograms of food products were gathered and delivered to a local association located in Olhão, demonstrating the event’s multifaceted approach towards fostering inclusivity, solidarity, and social responsibility.
The initiative was organized by the Sports Office of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg), in partnership with the Bachelor’s Degree in Sports and the UAlg V+ Volunteering Group.
The collaborative efforts of Alliance SEA-EU, AAUAlg and various supporting entities both internal and external have not only made this event a success but also underscored the importance of such initiatives in promoting diversity, solidarity, and community engagement within the university and beyond.
