Secondment: Paleoclimate Modeling

University of Kiel
50 Ideal start 1 Jan 2026 / Last possible end 31 Dec 2026

Application of climate model / analysis of climate model output.
Simulations of climate and ocean biogeochemistry from geological past into the future.

About us:

We are using coupled (atmosphere-ocean-marine biogeochemistry) climate models to simulate climate state from the geological past into the future. Simulations are run on a high-performance-computing (hpc) infrastructure. Research topics range from climate variability and climate change to carbon, nutrient and oxygen cycling (ocean acidification, ocean (de-)oxygenation).

Skills to be acquired or developed:

Knowledge to be acquired:

Insight into modeling techniques, data analysis and visualisation

Skills required:

Knowledge of the climate system, basic programming skills (e.g. Python)
