UAlg Welcomes Its New Student Representative to the SEA-EU Student Council

On 4 February, the University of Algarve has welcomed Tomás Silva, recently elected President of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg), as its new student representative in the SEA-EU Student Council.

Following his election in November 2025, Tomás Silva met with Patrícia Pinto, Vice-Rector for Partnerships and the European University (SEA-EU), who introduced him to the SEA-EU Alliance, its governance structure and the role of student representatives within the SEA-EU Governing Board, the Executive Committee and the Student Council.

The meeting also focused on aligning communication and dissemination strategies between the Student Union and UAlg, with the aim of improving how SEA-EU opportunities are communicated to and reach the student community.

During a transition period leading up to the next Governing Week, to be held from 9 to 11 June at the University of Brest, Tomás Silva will work closely with Rodrigo Carlos, former President of AAUAlg and current member of the Student Council, ensuring continuity and a smooth handover.

This reinforced student representation will be further supported by Beatriz Margarido, Vice-President of AAUAlg, who will also take on responsibility for the SEA-EU portfolio at the University of Algarve.

Together, this team reflects a strengthened and shared commitment to student engagement, communication and active participation within the SEA-EU Alliance.
