The exhibition “Spaces of Perfect Plasticity”, presenting a joint project by artists Mateja Galić and Željko Koren, opened on Wednesday, 17 December 2025 at 7:00 PM at the University Gallery, R. Boškovića 31.
In this project, the concept of plasticity was explored as an ontological, aesthetic, and social phenomenon. Starting from the idea that every form is both complete and in the process of becoming, the exhibition unfolded as a reflection on perfection, transformation, and the limits of form-making in a contemporary world shaped by the imperative of ideal form.
The exhibition brought together two autonomous yet complementary artistic approaches: the spatially minimalist installations of Mateja Galić and the painterly visions of Željko Koren. The exhibition was curated by Ana Clerc.
Through reduced, precisely constructed structures and intense neon colours, Galić created spatial situations that evoked architectural and sacred elements, while simultaneously stripping them of functionality, thereby opening a space for contemplation and tension between matter and idea.
Koren’s works, on the other hand, presented painterly spaces of a liminal atmosphere—fragments of visions, stripped-down structures of scenes, and traces of process that emphasised emotional resonance and the uncertainty of the final form.
The exhibition functioned as a kind of meta-exhibition, reflecting on art itself, its production, and its presentation within a broader social and capitalist context that constantly produces new ideals of perfection. “Spaces of Perfect Plasticity” thus opened up an ambivalent field between fascination with the perfectly shaped and a critical questioning of the cost of such perfection, emphasising art as a process rather than a finished product.
The exhibition remained open until 10 January 2026.
