Keeping Tradition Alive was held on 19 April 2026 at the University of Malta Gozo Campus. The event was jointly organised by the Gozo Campus in collaboration with the International Organisation of Needle and Bobbin Lace (OIDFA – Malta) and the Koperattiva Għawdxija tal-Bizzilla u Artiġjanat.
The event featured exhibitions and live demonstrations of traditional Gozo lace-making, as well as talks and presentations related to the craft. It brought together lace makers, students, academics, and members of the public to celebrate and preserve this traditional Maltese art form.
The programme included contributions from academic staff and guest speakers, including a lecture on historical textile heritage and showcases of contemporary lace work produced by students and local artisans.
The event highlighted the importance of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage and promoting traditional craftsmanship within an academic and community setting.
