Parthenope’s “Sulle Note del Mare” Music Festival Returns to Villa Doria d’Angri in Naples

The fourth edition of the music festival “Sulle note del mare in Villa Doria d’Angri” has officially begun on 4 June 2026. The event was promoted by the University of Naples Parthenope in collaboration with the Banco di Napoli Foundation and the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory of Music. It also received support from several sponsors.

The Sulle note del mare Villa Doria opening event was held on the terraces of Villa Doria d’Angri. It featured a live performance by the Duae Siciliae Sax Ensemble, an orchestra founded in 2023. The ensemble is composed of young saxophonists studying under Maestro Gianfranco Brundo at the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory.

A musical journey through iconic works

The ensemble delivered a musical journey through iconic film and symphonic works. Composers included Danny Elfman, Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer, Nino Rota and Paolo Molinelli. Consequently, the audience experienced an engaging cultural event.

The festival is part of the Music Unites project. This initiative aims to strengthen the relationship between the University, students, local communities, businesses and nonprofit organisations. Moreover, it promotes cultural development and social cohesion across the region through shared artistic experiences.

University and city dialogue through music

In his opening remarks, the Rector emphasised the importance of the initiative. He described it as a recurring cultural event that fosters dialogue between the University and the city. Furthermore, it reinforces the role of academic institutions in supporting social and cultural growth.

The evening concluded with a convivial gathering and a DJ set on the panoramic terrace of the villa. As a result, this marked an excellent start to this year’s edition of the festival.

Supporting cultural development and cohesion

The festival demonstrates how music can connect the University with the wider community. It also highlights the value of partnerships between academic institutions, cultural organisations and sponsors. Through these collaborations, the event strengthens the cultural landscape of the region.

Overall, Sulle note del mare in Villa Doria d’Angri continues to serve as a platform for artistic expression and social engagement. It brings together young musicians, students and the public in a shared experience of culture and creativity.
