The Rector of the University of Cádiz visits Poland to receive the R/V Oceanograf after the SEA-EU oceanographic campaign

The Rector of the University of Cádiz, accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Internationalization, Marcela Iglesias, was received in Poland by the University of Gdansk to celebrate the arrival of the R/V Oceanograf, a Polish research vessel that has successfully completed the second SEA-EU oceanographic campaign.

The Rector of the University of Gdansk, Piotr Stepnowski, and Vice-Rector Anna Jurkowska welcomed the Spanish delegation and began the day with a presentation of the University of Gdansk, followed by a discussion on the future aspects of the SEA-EU alliance. Subsequently, the delegation moved to the MOLO Pier in Sopot, where a welcome reception was held for the research vessel “Oceanograf”. The event was attended by the Minister of Climate and Environment and the Mayor of the city.

Lunch was organized by the Vice-Rectors of the University of Gdansk and took place near the MOLO Pier. After lunch, the delegation had the opportunity to make a brief visit to the Faculties of Chemistry and Biology at the University of Gdansk campus.

The afternoon included some free time for the Spanish delegation before a guided tour of the old town of Gdansk, organized by Natalia Lubińska from the SEA-EU Office at the University of Gdansk. The day concluded with a dinner organized by the Rector and Vice-Rectors of the University of Gdansk.

On board the R/V Oceanograf, which arrived at the Sopot Pier, was Fidel Echevarría, General Coordinator of the SEA-EU Alliance, who will participate in the closing events of the campaign.

The Rector of the University of Cádiz has taken advantage of this visit to meet the Polish SEA-EU partners and learn more about the University of Gdansk, thus strengthening the collaborative ties within the framework of this important academic alliance.
