On 10 April, the University of Algarve (UAlg) hosted a delegation from the State University of Amapá (UEAP), Brazil, composed of the vice-rector Marcela Nunes Videira, the coordinator for mobility and exchange at UEAP, Maria Danielle Hoshino, and the representative of the pro-rectory for undergraduate education, Érika da Costa Bezerra.
This visit reaffirmed the strategic partnership established between the two institutions since 2019, particularly in the areas of student and researcher mobility. It also served to deepen collaborative efforts within the European University of the Seas.
UEAP participates in SEA-EU Alliance as a global external partner, through its connection with UAlg. Discussions during the visit explored the potential for new joint initiatives, including collaboration on a master’s programme in Amazonian Natural Resources, reflecting mutual interests in sustainability and scientific research.
During the visit, as part of UAlg’s ongoing commitment to expanding SEA-EU’s global reach, UEAP was invited to join as a partner in the side event of the United Nations Ocean Conference 2025, where the University of Algarve will participate remotely on 9 June 2025.
This invitation reflects UAlg’s pivotal role as a bridge between Europe and Latin America and its dedication to promoting a more inclusive, global, and cooperative model of higher education and research.
