Unconference “Ospapik HCTI” at UBO

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, the University of Brest hosted a non-conference dedicated to poetry and literature from Indigenous and Islander communities. The event featured Ali Cobby Eckermann, Jeanine Leane, and Craig Santos Perez, who shared their work and performed poetry readings.

The program included discussions on contemporary First Nations storytelling, nonfiction poetry as a tool for truth-telling and reclaiming archives, ecopoetry, and visual sovereignty. Participants also had the opportunity to view screenings and multilingual presentations, including poems translated into French Sign Language.

The event took place at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and was also accessible online via Zoom.

Organisers (OSPAPIK, CRBC, UBO) curated a full day of presentations, conversations, and informal discussions, reflecting UBO’s commitment to showcasing diverse literary and artistic voices in the region.
