Handshakes, photos and autographs marked a memorable encounter as football legends Alemão and Careca recently met with a large audience of students from the Degree Programme in Sport and Exercise Sciences at the University of Naples Parthenope.
The event drew an enthusiastic crowd, with the two former Napoli stars engaging with students for over two hours. During the meeting, they revisited key moments of their time in Naples alongside the unforgettable Diego Armando Maradona, sharing personal anecdotes and watching archival footage celebrating some of the club’s most iconic successes.
The discussion went well beyond football. Alemão and Careca also addressed broader issues affecting everyday life, speaking openly about the challenges faced by young people today and the serious harm caused by drug abuse. Their message to students was clear and direct: stay away from dangerous paths and situations of social deviance. Passion, discipline and commitment, they stressed, remain essential ingredients for achieving personal and professional goals.
One of the most emotional moments of the event came with a surprise phone call from Salvatore Carmando, a historic figure closely associated with Napoli’s golden years, whose intervention was warmly received by both guests and students.
The meeting was moderated by Vice-Rector Roberto Bocchini and featured contributions from Rector Antonio Garofalo, Vice-Rector Pasqualina Buono, Professor Domenico Tafuri, Director of the DiSMMeB Department, journalist Fiorella Anzano, and Dr Salvatore Cirillo, CEO of Zeus.
