As the University of Brest (UBO) holds the presidency of the SEA-EU Alliance for the first half of 2026, the commitment to building a deeply integrated European University remains a priority, not only within the academic sphere but also through strong local cooperation.
UBO’s presidency of SEA-EU
Since January 1st, 2026, UBO has taken over the rotating presidency of the SEA-EU Alliance. In this role, the university provides political and strategic leadership for the nine partner universities. This semester is a pivotal time for the alliance, focused on driving innovation in sustainability, health, and joint educational programmes, culminating in the major Governing Week hosted in Brest this June.
A strategic meeting with local stakeholders
As part of UBO’s presidency of the SEA-EU alliance, the team recently brought together its partners involved in the project. This was an opportunity for the SEA-EU team and representatives from Brest Métropole, Océanopolis, Ifremer, the Finistère department, and Dielfenn Conseil to review the latest developments in the alliance and satellite projects such as “Sciences Comes to Town.”
The meeting was also a crucial step in preparing a specific programme for the upcoming visit of all SEA-EU partners to Brest.
