Innovating Libraries: University of Algarve Hosted Erasmus Staff Week for International Librarians

From June 17th to 21st, 2024, the University of Algarve (UAlg) hosted an Erasmus Staff Week for librarians under the motto “Think and Develop Our Libraries“.

This event was designed for information and documentation professionals from libraries, archives, and documentation centers. It aimed to provide a platform for sharing experiences and best practices, enabling participants to learn from different contexts, reflect on their own, and discover opportunities to enhance their services. It covered topics such as document processing, user service, training, repository management, open access, scientific dissemination, data management, cultural extension, editing, archiving, etc.

The event saw the participation of 16 professionals from the universities of Cadiz, Split, Malta, Gdansk, Ljubljana, Wroclaw, John Paul II Catheolic Lublin, Constantine the Philosopher, Valladolid, West Bohemia, and Pontifica de Salamanca.

Activities included visits to the Gambelas and Penha Campus Libraries of the University of Algarve, presentations on Communication, Training and Cultural Extension Services, Acquisitions and Cataloguing Services, a guided tour of Faro’s historical center, a visit to the public library and historical center of Vila Real de Santo António.
