Student Internships at INACH Instituto Antartico Chileno

As part of the NAWA Strategic Partnerships project International Cooperation for Education on Sustainable Management and Protection of Antarctic Living Marine Resources and Ecosystems – AntarCTic Partnership of UG and INACH (ICEPACT), we announce a call for student internships at the Instituto Antártico Chileno (INACH) – Punta Arenas (Chile).

During the internship, students will be involved in INACH’s scientific activities across various fields of the institution’s work, particularly in the areas of biology, ecology of polar regions, as well as their management and protection. Throughout the internship, students will acquire knowledge, skills, and competences in preparing monitoring and research work plans in polar regions, using Antarctica as an example. The results of such work may serve as documentation for recommendations and conservation plans, including those related to fisheries management in sensitive areas.

· Duration of internship: 3 weeks

· Internship period: November 3–21, 2025

· Funding: ICEPACT project, under the NAWA Strategic Partnerships program

· Application deadline: September 28, 2025, Sunday, 00:00 (Warsaw time)

The offer is addressed for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students at UG/SEA-EU.

Required documents (in English): transcript of records from the last semester of bachelor’s or master’s studies, a motivation letter, and a CV; an opinion from the supervisor/promoter of a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral thesis, or from an academic teacher; as part of the recruitment process, active involvement in faculty, university, or institutional activities, as well as the level of English proficiency, will also be taken into consideration.

In the first stage of recruitment, 15 candidates will be selected and invited to online interviews.

Student Internships in Antarctica

As part of the NAWA Strategic Partnerships project International Cooperation for Education on Sustainable Management and Protection of Antarctic Living Marine Resources and Ecosystems – AntarCTic Partnership of UG and INACH (ICEPACT), we announce a call for student internships in Antarctica, Nelson Island (South Shetland Islands). These internships will take place within the framework of the annual scientific activities of INACH – Instituto Antártico Chileno research groups in this region.

During the internships, students will gain competences in fieldwork within an international team, working under challenging polar conditions, working with protected species and within a protected area, and applying monitoring and research methods in particularly sensitive environments.

  • Duration of internship: 6–8 weeks
  • Internship period: December 2025 – January 2026
  • Funding: ICEPACT project, under the NAWA Strategic Partnerships program
  • Application deadline: September 28, 2025, Sunday, 00:00 (Warsaw time)
