UAlg hosts bilateral meeting to prepare launch of second year of SeaBluE joint degree

The University of Algarve hosted, on 24 and 25 March 2026, a bilateral meeting with the University of Cádiz, within the framework of the joint Bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Blue Economy (SeaBluE), part of the SEA-EU Alliance.

The meeting brought together 14 participantsnine from UAlg and five from UCA — and aimed primarily to prepare the launch of the programme’s second year, which will be delivered at UAlg from September 2026.

Over the two days of work, key topics for organising the upcoming academic year were addressed, including the academic calendar and student and staff mobility mechanisms. The development of the programme’s academic pathways was also discussed, with particular emphasis on Pathway 6 – Blue Industries: Tourism and Seafood, jointly coordinated by UAlg and UCA.

The agenda also included discussions on logistical and reception aspects, such as accommodation, the students’ welcome week, academic support services, and teaching conditions, as well as promotion and recruitment strategies for the next edition of the programme.

The SeaBluE Bachelor’s degree is a joint programme involving seven universities from the SEA-EU Alliance — the University of Cádiz (coordinating institution), the Parthenope University of Naples, the University of Gdansk, the University of Algarve, Nord University, the University of Split, and the University of Malta. It represents one of the European Universities initiatives aimed at building more integrated, innovative, and transnational higher education models aligned with global challenges.
