From 15 to 17 September, the Observatory of Migration and Human Rights held a working meeting with the Blue Economy Observatory as part of the BEING SEA-EU Conference programme, held at the University of Gdańsk in Poland. The sessions provided an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the work carried out by both initiatives and to create a space for dialogue between their respective teams.
One of the main objectives of the meeting was to present the activities currently being developed by each observatory. The sessions provided an overview of their areas of work, ongoing projects, and main lines of action, contributing to a broader understanding of the initiatives being carried out by both observatories.
The programme also included a presentation of the upcoming events and activities planned by both observatories. This exchange made it possible to share schedules, learn more about forthcoming initiatives, and identify events in which there may be opportunities for participation.
The discussions also led to the identification of several potential areas for collaboration. The teams explored proposals and areas of shared interest that could be developed through future activities, opening the door to joint initiatives and to a closer working relationship between the two observatories.
The meeting was particularly significant as it took place within the framework of BEING SEA-EU, a setting that encourages connections between teams, institutions, and projects from different perspectives. Participation in this event provided an opportunity to expand existing networks and establish new connections within the SEA-EU community.
The sessions concluded with a very positive and productive assessment from the participants. The discussions held over the three days helped strengthen mutual understanding and, in particular, identify specific areas on which further work could be developed in the coming months.
The meeting therefore represents a starting point for new initiatives. While some of the proposals discussed will require further consideration in future meetings, the encounter provided a solid basis for continued cooperation and helped establish an ongoing channel of communication between the two observatories.
Through meetings of this kind, the Observatory of Migration and Human Rights continues to strengthen its participation in spaces for cooperation and knowledge exchange, while also expanding its connections with other initiatives within the SEA-EU environment. The meeting with the Blue Economy Observatory represents, in this regard, an opportunity to continue developing projects and activities from an interdisciplinary and collaborative perspective.
