Driving Mobility Forward: MEG Meeting in Split alongside Erasmus Generation Meeting

The MEG Physical Meeting, held from 15 to 17 April 2026 at the University of Split, gathered SEA-EU partners to review progress, exchange best practices, and define next steps in mobility cooperation.

Discussions focused on improving mobility KPIs reporting, strengthening coordination between partners, and addressing ongoing challenges in areas such as student selection, communication, and joint programmes. Participants agreed on clearer procedures, better data collection, and more aligned practices across the alliance.

The meeting also highlighted future initiatives, including the development of a shared Welcome Handbook, joint student welcoming sessions, and expanded staff mobility opportunities.

At the same time, Split hosted the Erasmus Generation Meeting 2026, one of the largest student-led conferences in Europe, bringing together over 1,000 students, alumni, and higher education stakeholders from across the continent. This dynamic event focused on the role of mobility in shaping skills, fostering inclusion, and strengthening European identity.

The parallel organisation of these two events created a unique opportunity for synergy. MEG participants had the chance to take part in selected Erasmus Generation Meeting activities, including the Flag Parade, Opening Ceremony, and networking events. This allowed for direct exchange with students and offered valuable insight into the perspectives of the Erasmus Generation.

Importantly, the overlap of the two events strengthened connections between institutional representatives and students, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in shaping the future of European mobility.

Overall, the meeting reinforced SEA-EU’s commitment to building a more connected, efficient, and inclusive European university alliance.
