On 16 September, members of the Observatory of Migration and Human Rights visited the Port of Gdansk, a stakeholder in the SEA-EU alliance, together with representatives of the Observatory of Sustainable Blue Economy.
The visit provided an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the activities and strategic role of the Port of Gdansk within the European maritime and port ecosystem, while also exchanging perspectives on the challenges and opportunities associated with the sustainable development of maritime activities.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the participants to strengthen their collaboration and exchange ideas on areas of common interest. The two observatories also discussed the links between migration, human rights and the sustainable blue economy, highlighting the value of working together across these areas.
Furthermore, incorporating migration and human rights perspectives into discussions surrounding Europe’s maritime space highlighted the importance of considering the social and human dimensions of maritime activities. By bringing together expertise from the fields of migration, human rights and the sustainable blue economy, the meeting also helped identify opportunities for future collaboration in these areas.
